Re: REUNION - final reminders

Well said, Michele.  I hope Jeanne Riley is here this year ... just making sure everyone knows she is the Jeanne you are referring to...!! Love my namesake!  It's funny, no matter how many people are there, you miss those that aren't.  I'm excited that Rob and Christopher, et al will be there this year.  My sister Jo Ann, who celebrates her 83rd birthday tomorrow, July 29th, will not be coming this year.  Hopefully next year, she said.  If you want to let people know about her birthday tomorrow, it might be nice.  Also, hope someone from my family can stay to close but I cannot volunteer for them.

Love you,
Aunt Jeanne

Okay ~ this is the week!  :)

Final reminders about this weekend:

The park is one hour behind almost all of us.  In the past we've always kept everything on 'our time' so we'll do the same this year.  All posted meal times are Indy/Louisville time.  We'll set the microwave clock to Indy/Louisville time too.  Just keep that in mind when you are planning to go to HW, or a show, etc. or you may show up an hour early.

Cabin assignments will be posted on the doors of the dining hall and inside by the sign up sheets.  Maybe I'll put one out at the pavilion too.  For the most part, people are where they were last year, with a couple changes.  It's hard making sure there are enough low bunks for all the kiddos we have which is what I've been working on with getting people in the right cabins.  And, as you know, feel free to move amongst yourselves - this is just to ensure that everyone has a starting point and that there is space for everyone.

Please sign up to help with a meal or clean up and keep all areas clean in between.  Everyone is responsible for their own dishes at lunchtime.  We have 'reunion' utensils that I think are marked with blue painter's tape.  If you use one of these, please make sure that it makes it back to the right spot since these belong to the reunion.

We are still in need for a volunteer from the N and the S to stay and help with cleanup.  This person must be able to walk the entire grounds with the rangers to ensure that everything has been cleaned up.  Also, the North person takes back any 'lost' items thought to belong to North families and the South person does the same for the South.  We need someone from the middle generation or the next one down.  Please let Deni or I know.

The one thing about our reunion that I love is little things that people do to make it special.  Many people have their own way of making the reunion memorable for others.  A few that come to mind are Bob P's popcorn and Mike & Joe playing music, Jeanne making the water & kool-aid coolers of refreshments, the many girls who organize games at dusk, the various cousins who have organized crafts, and those certain people's homemage goodies from the snack table that you crave all year long and my kids have talked all year about superman being at our reunion last year!  What is yours?  Do you have one?  Why not start one this year?  Or use this year to review, reflect and consider - what's missing that you could do next year to create your own special 'mark' for our reunion?

See everyone this weekend!

Love,

Michele

Are we going to post funny experiences at the 2010 Holdaway Family Reunion...as we did one year?
