It's almost reunion time!  In just weeks we'll be having our first June reunion!

 

June 27th - June 30th at LINCOLN STATE PARK

I'll put together cabins assignments based on last year's as a starting point for those needing cabins to be sure everyone can have space.  If you are camping, but want cabin space too, just let me know.

 

Food emails will come from Deni and I shortly.  Basically, it will be the same as last year.

 

The big Holiday World trip will be Friday, June 28th.  Reservations for group rates must be made 24 hours in advance for the best discount.  I suggest waiting until the week of to be sure the weather will cooperate.  Must have a group of 15+.  I think last year we were able to pick up our group tix the day before.  This may help for distributing tix if people are going at different times.

2012 IMPORTANT ITEMS

Very important last minute items:

**The time in Dale / Holiday World / Lincoln State Park is an hour earlier than Louisville, Indy & Clarksville time.  In the past, we have always stuck with Indy time for meals, etc, however,

THIS YEAR, WE ARE GOING TO GO BASED ON LOCAL TIME.  If anyone still wears a watch, please remember to adjust your watch accordingly.  We decided to make this change because most of us use our phones for the time and they will update automatically once we are in that time zone.  We want it to be the least confusing for everyone.

The microwave clock will be set to local time in the kitchen, so you can double check your watches / phones with it.  All meal times and prep and clean up times will be based on LOCAL time. 


**It will be hot, but not as hot as last year, thankfully!!  However, please still pack a couple extra gallons of water or bottles for your family to stay hydrated.  The lows as of now are to be in the 60s all three nights!!  Yay!!  Also, please bring your extra fans to the dining hall to use in there.

This is just to ensure everyone has a spot and there are lower bunk beds for the little kids.  If you want to switch or make changes, feel free to do so amongst yourselves.  Also, note if you are in a 'double bed' room in the cabin, because you'll need to pack your bedding accordingly to fit the beds if you don't use sleeping bags.


**CRAFTS - we are going to do the bleach / T-shirts again this year.  So, if you and / or your children would like to participate, please bring a dark colored shirt to design and decorate.

We will also have lots of other craft things for the kids too.


**HOLIDAY WORLD -

Everyone I have heard from is going to Holiday World on Friday:

-Operating hours: 9:30am CDT to 8:30pm CDT for Holiday World
-Operating hours: 10:30am CDT to 6:30pm CDT for Splashin Safari
-Group tickets with 24 hour advance reservation for 15 or more $30.95/person
-Children 2 and under are free

If you don't have a group, let me know and I'll try and get people connected for the discount.

Note that Friday dinner clean up begins at 7:30, so to eat dinner, please be sure to be back at camp and get your food prior to 7:30.  You can still eat leftovers after cleanup, but you will be responsible for that and the clean up.


**SHIRTS - please bring and plan to wear your shirts on Saturday!!


**SIGN-UPS - We still need many people to sign up to help for the weekend.  There are a lot of empty spots.  Please click the link below to sign up to help:

If you have some gladware or other 'left over' containers, please bring those too, so that we can send you home with the leftovers, rather than throwing it away.
As of now, we are going to have 98 people attending... I'm super excited to see everyone!  It's going to be an awesome reunion!

2012 Reunion - mark the date on your calendar!!

The 2012 Holdaway Family Reunion will be held July 19th - July 22nd at Lincoln State Park.

LAST MINUTE ITEMS

Some final reminders and important items for the reunion this week:

#1 - It's gonna be hot! Today, I found spray mist personal fans at Walmart in the FAN section for either $7 or $9. We bought the $9 ones and they are really fun and "cool". :) Highly suggest you purchase on for the weekend!! There were a lot at our Walmart, but with the heat wave, they might run out, so get yours asap!! And bring extra batteries, because I'm sure they will get a workout!

Also, please bring ALL your fans. If you are not in your sleeping cabins (like when you come up for breakfast), please bring your fans to the Rec Building or Dining Hall so that we can have all the air circulation possible.

Bring lots of water. I'll bring the orange cooler full of drinking water. Be sure to stay hydrated. Consider bringing a couple extra gallons of water more than you usually do.

#2 - Don't forget swimsuits, towels and sunscreen. Remember, there is an awesome pool to cool off from the heat. I imagine we'll be there a lot on Friday. :)

#3 - There is a field to play softball. We didn't get to do this last time, because it rained. It will be hot, so maybe people won't want to play, but just in case, don't forget to throw in your softball stuff! If someone wants to step up and get this going Friday night, it's all yours. :)

#4 - Check-in is at 3pm on Thursday. We are planning to arrive by then to unlock everything, so feel free to arrive whenever. Last time we were at Versailles we put the snacky stuff in the Rec Bldg and the meal stuff in the Dining Hall. That seemed to work. Feel free to do whatever you think works.

#5 - Cabin assignments will posted in the dining hall by the sign up sheets. Please check out your cabin assignment and take the opportunity to sign up to help for the weekend.

#6 - Label all your stuff.

#7 - Make sure we get the kids involved in activities and chores for the weekend!! There will be a special craft for the kiddos too!
